The building was extended in 1913 by the addition of what is now known as the Atholl Room to house the Methodist Sunday School. Throughout the 20^th Century the hall was used for various Chapel and Community events.

In 2002 it was decided to sell the premises and the Methodist Church was kind enough to offer it to the local community at a very cheap price rather than develop it commercially. A small group of local enthusiasts identified a potential use as an Arts and Community Centre, purchased it and commenced a programme of refurbishment.

After 5000 hours of donated free skilled labour and untold hours of volunteering, the Centenary Centre was opened to the public in October 2003. Since then we have added a new toilet block, four additional dressing rooms, raked seating, and thanks to a bequest from the late Cyril Cannell, our very popular Bar!

The Centre is proudly run entirely by volunteers and is busy every day of the week. We constantly look for new ways to enhance our customers’ experience and we are always keen to welcome new volunteers to our friendly team.
